This faq or frequently asked questions section will help you to resolve some questions you or your customers may run into when using ePass Enterprise Family of Products. We have listed the questions and the answers here for your reference.

1. What will I get in ePass Start-up Kit? How can I integrate ePass into my applications?

In our respective ePass Start-up Kit it will come with 5 units of Tokens together with Developer Manual and Utilities CD-ROM. There are also samples for Crypto API and PKCS11 for reference.

As ePass products are all MS-CAPI and PKCS#11 compliant, it allow seamless integration to applications develop base on this 2 standards. For other integration, please kindly refer to the Developer Manual.

2. b>is the passwords structure for ePass

ePass basically come with 2 levels passwords system, i.e. SO Pin (Security Officer Pin) and User Pin (End User Pin). SO Pin will be needed for accessing Administrator operations such as Initialization of Token, Unblocking User Pins, etc. User Pin will be needed for End User to authenticate with his/her own ePass Token.

3. Do ePass USB Token require device driver installation? What will are the differences with or without driver installation?

ePass1000 and ePass2000 FT1 & ePass2000 FT12 will require device driver installation, whereas ePass1000ND, ePa2000 FT11, ePass3000 and BioPass3000 are HID Driverless thus no device driver installation needed.

All HID Driverless models will not support Smart Card logon by nature.

4. Why does ePass USB Token seem to work inconsistently when attached to a USB Hub?

We have found that some USB Hubs with internal power supplies seem to have electrical interference problems that can affect ePass. If it is necessary to use a Hub, try to select one with an external power supply.

5. Does my computer have a USB interface?

Generally, all computers above PII have a USB interface and some older computers may also have one. If there is no USB port on your computer, insert a USB interface extension card into any free PCI slot. Please note that if the motherboard has a USB function, you must enable it in the BIOS.
